Anatomy Referencing with OC

Today we did a focus session on PDFs and curating our blogs. We had to illustrate a character in 10 minutes without references completely from our minds, which was really difficult for me. So, I just did what was in my comfort zone: cats!! Which fits into my Layered Worlds project because in my own utopia people would be more feline. In learning about blogging, we were taught about recording the process of creation to ensure that if we forget to write it in our PDFs then our blogs go into more detail. Therefore, I have uploaded a time lapse of my drawing.

I also drew inspiration from Fantastic Mr. Fox because I watched this film recently. The characters are trying to create a utopia for themselves away from the humans trying to kill them and in the end they reach that by dancing in an empty store. It is an animals utopia because they are an advanced form of animal, they wear clothes and have cross species communication to live in a civil society. I took inspiration from Ash specifically because he’s *different*, I love his cape and cynical attitude which is a point of character development for him

We then were informed about an app/website that would help with pose referencing and lighting, which is something I struggle with, so I played around with the poses until I found on that isn’t usually within my comfort zone.

Again we had about 10 minutes to complete the new sketch in the new pose. I found it difficult but it was made easier with the app, I will definitely use it more in the future to add more dynamics and movement to my illustrations.

In conclusion, I enjoyed this class because alongside with my one-to-one with my tutor I felt more reassured about my project and the direction of it. I also have further guidance for submitting my work.
